In addition to the Sapa Engraved Rocks, there is another rock-related mysterious site in Northen Vietnam which is the Nam Dan enigmatic acient rock field in Ha Giang province.
Located in the area referred to as Na Lai Shu (or “fields of writing characters”) by the local people, the Nam Dan engraved rocks were discovered in 2004. In this field, there are as many as 79 pictures carved into the rocks, classifed by researchers into 7 categories such as round and square patterns, yoni and linga symbols, human feet, and totally different from those in Sapa. According to researchers, these carved rocks may be related to the practice of worshipping the Rock Genie of the prehistoric Viet residents thousands of years ago.
The Nam Dan enigmatic rock field is not yet as famous as the one in Sa Pa, but the beauty and secrets it conceals is immensive and worth exploring when in Vietnam.
